SubjectMarksOut of

Enter marks for each subject to see the percentage.

What it is

Percentage is total marks obtained divided by total maximum marks, times 100. CBSE does not declare an overall percentage or division on its mark sheets, so when a college or employer asks for one, it usually means the best five subjects. Check the admission form, because some ask for all subjects or for specific ones. For the old CBSE grading system, CBSE's published conversion is percentage = CGPA × 9.5.

What you get

Leave "out of" blank for 100, or enter 80 or 50 for subjects marked differently.

Questions schools ask

How do I calculate my CBSE percentage?

Add the marks obtained in the subjects, divide by the total maximum marks and multiply by 100. For example, 452 out of 500 is 90.4%.

How is the best five percentage calculated?

Take the five subjects with the highest marks, add them and divide by 500 (or their total maximum marks), then multiply by 100. CBSE leaves it to colleges and employers whether to use the best five, so check their rules.

Does CBSE give an overall percentage?

No. CBSE mark sheets show subject marks and grades, but CBSE does not declare an overall percentage, division or distinction. Institutions that need a percentage work it out themselves.

How do I convert CBSE CGPA to percentage?

For the old CBSE grading system, multiply the CGPA by 9.5. A CGPA of 9.2 is about 87.4%. This is the conversion CBSE published.

Can a school get percentages for every student automatically?

Yes. In Chalkbell, teachers enter marks once and report cards, class results and percentages are worked out for every student, in the CBSE report card format.
