What it is

A school notice or circular is a formal message from the school to parents, students or staff, about holidays, exams, fees, events or rules. A good one has the school letterhead, a reference number and date, the word Notice or Circular, who it is for, a one-line subject, a short message, and the name and designation of the person issuing it. A notice is usually put up on the board or sent home once; a circular is sent to a group, such as all parents or all teachers.

Questions schools ask

What is the format of a school notice?

The school name at the top, then the word NOTICE, a reference number and date, a one-line subject, a short message saying what, when, where and who, and the name and designation of the person issuing it.

What is the difference between a notice and a circular?

A notice is usually displayed or sent once to announce something. A circular is sent around to a group, such as all parents or all staff, often with instructions. The layout is the same, and this maker does both.

How long should a school notice be?

As short as possible: one subject per notice, with the date, time, place and what parents or students must do. Most notices fit in a few lines.

Can I write the notice in Hindi?

Yes. Type the subject and message in Hindi and they print as typed. The headings stay in English.

Can parents get notices on their phones instead?

In Chalkbell, the office writes a notice once and parents see it in the school app. Each parent taps "I have read this", so the school knows who has seen it.
