What it is

A class timetable shows which subject is taught in each period of each day. To make one, decide the school start time, the length of a period, the number of periods a day and when the break falls; the bell times follow from those. Then fill each period with a subject, usually with the teacher's initials, and check that each subject gets its weekly periods. This maker does the bell times and the weekly count for one class at a time, and prints a clean landscape timetable.

Questions schools ask

How do I make a school timetable?

Fix the start time, period length, number of periods and the break, so the bell times are set. List each subject's weekly periods. Fill the heavier subjects in the morning periods first, spread each subject across the week, and check the totals.

How many periods should a school day have?

Most Indian schools run 7 or 8 periods of 35 to 45 minutes, with a break of 15 to 30 minutes in the middle. Set your own numbers and the bell times update.

Does this tool check teacher clashes?

No. It makes one class timetable at a time, so it cannot see a teacher who is in two classes at once. For the whole school, clashes need a timetable that knows every class and teacher.

Is there an AI timetable generator for schools?

Yes, in Chalkbell. You write rules in plain words, such as "Maths in the first half of the day", and it builds a clash-free timetable for every class and teacher, which the school reviews before saving. Chalkbell's AI also drafts report card remarks for teachers to approve.

Is my timetable saved?

It is saved in this browser on this device only, so you can come back to it. Clearing your browser data removes it. Nothing is sent to us.
